“Jano janamhi sambaddho,

People are attached to people;

janamevassito jano;

people depend on people;

1.3

Jano janena heṭhīyati,

people are hurt by people;

heṭheti ca jano janaṁ.

and people hurt people.

Ko hi tassa janenattho,

So what’s the point of people,

janena janitena vā;

or those born of people?

2.3

Janaṁ ohāya gacchaṁ taṁ,

Go, abandon these people,

heṭhayitvā bahuṁ janan”ti.

who’ve hurt so many people.
