Theragāthā 1.73 Ekakanipāta Aṭṭhamavagga Māṇavattheragāthā

“Jiṇṇañca disvā dukhitañca byādhitaṁ,

Seeing an old person, and one suffering from disease,

Matañca disvā gatamāyusaṅkhayaṁ;

and a corpse come to the end of life,

Tato ahaṁ nikkhamitūna pabbajiṁ,

I went forth, becoming a wanderer,

Pahāya kāmāni manoramānī”ti.

and giving up the pleasures of the senses.
